What is the Texas Prevention Impact Index?
The Texas Prevention Impact Index (TPII) project was funded by the U.S. Department of Education in the fall of 1997 to develop a data collection system that would assist schools in prevention program improvement.
Since the completion of the development phase of the project in September of 1999, the TPII has been used in Districts throughout Texas as well as other states.
What does TPII have that can help me?
- The Texas Prevention Impact Index supports school districts by providing:
- A comprehensive needs assessment instrument and data collection method, consistent with the USED-mandated Principles of Effectiveness
- A tool for effective program planning
- Risk/Resiliency data beyond student drug use and incidence
- A research-based methodology
- A benchmark to measure changes over time
- Valuable local statistics for grant-writing and budgeting
